11 Nov Outlook Crashing & Flashing Login Screen (KB3097877)
Earlier this week, Microsoft released several updates/patches through their Patch Tuesday update to Windows. However there was an update (KB3097877) affecting Windows 7 machines. The update was causing crashes to Microsoft Outlook, random system crashes and flashing screens.
The patch is part of security bulletin MS15-115, a “critical update,” in Microsoft’s lexicon, designed to prevent remote code execution triggered by malicious fonts.
The quick fix is to uninstall this update.
Edit: Microsoft has now released v2 of the KB3097877 which fixes all of these issues.
